Now ReviewMe loves me - oh the irony!

Posted by stuart as Uncategorized

I joined ReviewMe about six months ago, and had never seen an offer.

I’ve written a lot recently about Google getting slap-happy with bloggers who sell links or editorial content, feeling like I could come off all high and mighty because I do neither.

Then the email arrived yesterday - a $50 review…..

Damnit, that’s like, five domains I could buy…..

So do I do it?

Seems like you have an interesting issue there, as your blog is named PimpMyPageRank, I would suggest not doing anything that could cause you to drop in PageRank, but on the flip side, you have to monetize your blog. I would say $50 in your pocket is probably worth it, but don’t make a habit of accepting many ReviewMe reviews. Be picky.

don’t say no to $50 :P

I think I’ve decided not to do it.

The money would’ve been nice, but the sponsor is into something that’s not really my cup of tea (traffic selling), and I don’t think that the readers here would appreciate that.

Thanks for your feedback though! :-)

LOL, once you are into the dark side, it is very hard to resist. I know ‘cos I am weaning two of my blogs from paid posts and I even returned the money to ReviewMe. You still have a PR4/10 so hang on to that. *sniff* I used to be PR 5/10 and PR4/10 but got zero all over. I have come clean now and hope for the best.

Similarly, I’ve been registered on ReviewMe for a good few months and only recently got an offer, but it was for a gambling website so I turned it down.

$50 just isn’t worth what it used to be! Now £50 might be a different story! Actually, no, I wouldn’t have done it for that amount either.

$50 is a decent amount, but I think the big ‘G’ may not like it at all.
Any per per post pram is suicide for them.
I lost my PR4 to PR0 on one of my blog just because of it.

Funny you would mention this subject … I did the first draft of ReviewMe article for a different blog than my “money making” blog and I will be submitting it, with no worries, later this morning.

I understand part of the thought behind Google’s “wishes”. but I also will not let Google (or any other entity) tell me what to do with my property.

One advantage of being old is, we seniors remember when there was no Google … and when Google was essentially inconsequential … guess what, they will be again. 5 years from now there will be a different “Google” to worry about, fawn over, live in fear of … Save this email for five years and write me back then to tell me if I was right or wrong.

Turn down reviews for items you don’t care for or services you believe are wrong … but when you or I write about a company in our areas of expertise, complete with reasoned explanations of what we think is good …. or bad … about the review requester, we are performing a service and have the right to be paid … regardless of what Matt Cutts’ cat thinks.
