How much is too much swearing in a f*#king blog?

Posted by stuart as ,

Those of you’ve who’ve been silly enough to have been reading this little corner of the intarweb for a while will know that I lose my cool sometimes.

Whilst writing the last post about how much Nokia suck, I considered letting fly with an expletive laden rant, but then thought better of it.

I’ve never shied away from colouful language in any of my blogs, but I wonder how effective it really is.

I spent years of my early working life working in a production environment in factories. Some of the language I came across was appalling, indicative of this was this sort of sentence:

I went to the f*cking footy on the weekend, and you wouldn’t f*cking believe it, but my team of useless c*nts got f*cking flogged. Useless f*cking c*nts!

Whilst I don’t take particular offence to this kind of language, god knows I’ve used enough of it after a dozen or so refreshing ales, I must admit that any possible impact the speaker was trying to generate with his language, was simply lost.

I’m thinking that a few judiciously placed curses where I really want to make a point is the way to go. It shows that I’m ust a ordinary knockabout kinda bloke, is unlikely to offend (too many) readers, and let my make my point with a little more force where required.

What do you think, dear reader? Do you think that no swearing in a blog is the right amount? Would you let fly if you thought it was warranted?

Hey Nokia, you suck!

I had reason this week to replace my trusty LG U8180 3G mobile phone. So I toodled off to the shops, and settled on the very cool Nokia 6280, as I’d had Nokia phones before, and quite enjoyed owning them.

The main drawcard of the Nokia phone, though, was that as I had owned them before, I had a drawer full of chargers, both powered, and car.

So I unpack my shiny new phone as soon as I get in the car, intending to give it some juice on the way home. To my absolute disgust, it seems Nokia have, sometime in the last year or so, changed the size of the ack in the phine itself, rendering all old chargers useless.

I’ve long been pissed that every phone manufacturer has different charging systems. In the past ten years or so I’ve owned Nokia’s, Sony Ericsson’s, LG’s, and Motorola phones, hence the drawer full of chargers. Every time I’ve replaced a phone, I’ve needed to go out and buy new chargers again.

But for a manufacturer to introduce a new charging system is pure profiteering.

F&*k you Nokia! :-(
