How to corner the market with a rubbish product.
So, itunes eh?
Those who frequent this neck of the woods will know that I’ve taken on a project to get a blog with a podcast up and running.
So, it’s all good, the setting up of the podcast was quite easy, until the client tells me he wants people to be able to subscribe through the itunes directory with the itunes software.
Now there’s no doubt that itunes is a really cool piece of software, but shit they make it hard to get a podcast into their directory. Firstly, you need to have an account with them, which means handing over your credit card details (huh?), then they make you use all sorts of bullshit tags in your feed to get it to show up properly in their directory.
This is a classic example of the principle that if you make a product easy to use for the end user, you can crap all over the developer, and make them jump through hoops to get their product in front of said end user.
Bloody Apple.
